╫ Entering the Wilderness: Seasons of Suffering in God’s People

When Israel leaves Egypt, they rejoice in the freedom from Egypt’s slavery but soon thereafter encounters something they didn’t truly expect: A wilderness. No water, no food, just a desert ready to swallow them. In their minds, they only traded the curse of Egypt for the curse of the wilderness, and they complain and even rebel against God.

Jesus also entered a wilderness. Even though He was free from sin and the world (Egypt), He had to walk through the wilderness. But He took 40 days instead of Israel’s 40 years, and He never complained or rebelled. Throughout scripture, we see the reality of the wilderness season every man/woman of God will encounter. It’s everywhere. But what are we to do when we enter it?

Spot on PD! Yes, humility is key for sure. I remember a friend who’s wife had a maiden name of Meek. He would joke quoting the Word – “the meek shall inherit the earth, ha! Just past week at Shabbat fellowship I was talking with a brother about the same thing! We must have humility. A sister I know said you had your recent trouble because of giving a waitress money frivolously. I rebuked her right away for that, such judging! It reminds me of Yahshua commenting on the tower falling and people thinking the ones it fell on were worse sinners than others in Jerusalem. Anyway my Brother, will keep you and Christina in prayer. Your display of faith is encouraging! Let the Father reward you I pray and soon! Blessings and Shalom, William

The Bible also states that we should expect suffering, because Yeshua suffered. It also goes to say that in trouble, it reminds us how much we NEED the Father. It’s not a curse, it’s not always because we are disobedient or disconnected from God. Praise God we are not alone in our trials! In the story of Jesus calming the storm, when he was awakened from the disciples who were in great fear, Yeshua replied, “Why are you so afraid? Do you STILL NOT have faith in me!” I thank God for the trials I’ve had. I more and more, recognize His hand on me and His work through me, because I KNOW the difference between the why’s of suffering and the blessings that come through the growth that happens through the trial. Thank you for your faithfulness … may God bless you and Christina greatly in the trial and in the restoration you will have! AMEN

  3. I love the mountain top experiences, but we generally learn in the valley. The suffering, and pain of trials, whether in your physical body, in persecutions, in your work, home, family or even in your finances; and sometimes the “perfect storm”; you get trials in every area of your life all at the same time. I thank Elohim for the perfect peace that we can have in the middle of these storms. And after He has led you thru, the valley of the shadow of death, what joy, what healing, what restoration!!! I would not trade any of the sufferings that have been privileged to walk thru, because these were the times that I got to draw so close to Him, cling to Him and learn more about my Adon and Mashiach. We actually get to go thru something with Him, how awesome is that?! Then when we praise Him we know and understand more and more Whom it is that we actually serve.
My husband and myself have been greatly encouraged at the level of maturity of relationship that you and your wife share together in the Lord. We will continue to pray for you:
[Eph 3:14-21 NKJV] 14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what [is] the width and length and depth and height– 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. 20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him [be] glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

  4. Amen brother! Thanks for commenting. Without humility who will see God? It is the requirement for veils to be lifted off our eyes to see what Yeshua is doing 🙂
