╫ Let God Be The Judge – Day of Atonement

The Day of Atonement is an appointed time of God that reminds us to live lives that are holy, for we will all one day stand before God and be judged for every idle word we have spoken (Matt 12:36, 2 Cor 5:10). But also, we need to be reminded that God Himself will be the Great Judge.

While we are to judge matters in our life righteously (John 7:24), Jesus spoke of the pointing of the finger often: That the measure we use to judge others will be measured back to us on that day of judgment. Introspection, therefore, is needed: Have we judged others absolutely righteously, accurately, and even with the same grace and patience our Father has afforded us? If not, we may disqualify ourselves from that grace we desire and certainly need on the Great Day.

“You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye” (Matthew 7:5)
