1 thought on “Did Jesus accept worship? Should we worship Jesus?”
It is clear Yeshua/Jesus is God, the Creator, and is to be worshiped, according to Scripture, but there are other Scriptures to consider. Growing up in the church we focused only on Jesus, with the Father rarely mentioned in prayers and worship music. Now, with some of the revelation of Torah, some Hebrew roots are doing just like the church, but flipping it around and focusing on the Father and although NOT denying Yeshua, begin leaving Yeshua out more of worship and prayer to him. Like your teaching on “Spirit & Truth”, we need to have BOTH The Father AND Yeshua in balance. Yet, there are verses that say the Father is greater than the Son and that the Son can do nothing without The Father (John 5:19, John 14:28) Then, you have John 20:17 “Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God”. And, John 14:23, “Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and WE will come unto him, and make our abode with him.” These verses and others make it clear there are 2 different roles here, yet The Father and the Son are one is Spirit and unity, with the Father being greater somehow, but does not mean we do not worship Yeshua. We have to take the whole of Scripture. Yeshua is God, but Yeshua is not ”Father” God. Yeshua is God, the Son, in English terms. I think one of the problems is lack of communication. I know some people that say Yeshua is not God, but what they really mean is that Yeshua is not YHWH Elohim/God, the Father. It is a little confusing as we are learning Hebrew and the meaning of the word God/Elohim, in various places in the Word, can mean different things…. And then, changing the subject…On witnessing on the streets, we need to be careful that the people do not walk away with the thinking that all they have to do in “believe” in Jesus to make it to heaven (The Kingdom), after all, “even the demons believe” (have a knowledge of) and are not going to make it to heaven. And I am not saying any of our works alone, will get us to heaven either. I am saying that the belief should be clear that it is not just a “head acknowledgment belief of Jesus/Yeshua”, but a a “wholehearted trust” in Jesus/Yeshua, and a “surrendering” heart, which then leads to a “heart of love” towards Him bringing a “desire” to please Him, attempting to obey the best you know how (and learn how). Change of subject again… I do not think I fully understand when Jesus says in John 16:2323, “And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. And in Matthew 6:9 where Yeshua tells us to pray “Our Father in Heaven….”I have been taking that to mean we address The Father in prayer and then end in Yeshua’s name. We should still praise/worship Yeshua, thanking Him etc, but maybe only “asking” the Father in prayer (and not asking Yeshua) because maybe that is out of order???? Thank You. Yahweh bless you and your family with shalom!
