The other day while at work, the Father impressed in my spirit several key things to lift up in prayer regarding our spouses and future spouses. These points are not limited to only our spouses, but certainly extend to all those whom we love.
Below I have shared seven key points to pray about, one for each day of the week. Each point is kept brief, so as you pray, don’t stop with only what I list below. Use them as a starting point as you lift up your loved one(s) in prayer to the Father. I hope these bless you.
Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints.
1. The Heart
And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. (Matthew 22)
In this first key point, pray for the heart of the one you love, that they may love the Lord with all their heart and desire a deep and intimate relationship with Him. Pray for them to know the Father’s love for them, a love that loves so much that He sent His Son to take the punishment of our sins and die on our behalf that relationship may be restored. Pray that their hearts may be so on fire for God that they cannot hold back from speaking His Word and His heart to everyone they meet. Pray for God’s joy and peace to fill and guard their hearts (Philippians 4:7). Pray that they may walk in love and become a doorway of God’s love to all they meet.
A servant’s heart
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant, or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)
Pray for a servant’s heart that desires to give more than receive. Pray for a heart that strives to emulate the example of Yeshua our Messiah, who washed his disciples feet and even gave his life for those who hated him. Pray for a heart so rooted in the heart of God that it finds its greatest joy in just resting in His presence.
2. The Mind
The fear of Yahweh
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 1:7)
In this second key point, pray for the mind of the one you love, that they may walk in the fear of the Lord, for the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Pray for deeper revelations and understanding of God’s will and Word and an outpouring of God’s wisdom in their lives. Pray that they will not rely on their own understanding or become prideful in their own knowledge (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Pray for a mind so focused on God that it wants nothing to do with any unclean or impure thing, and will actively flee from it. Pray for restoration of mind from the lies and temptations of the enemy that tried to steal and destroy.
The entire story of the Bible is one of restoration, and our Heavenly Father is in the restoration business. Pray that they will not set their minds on things of the flesh but on things of the Spirit (Romans 8:5). Pray that your loved one walk in the power, guidance, and anointing of the Holy Spirit. Pray that this anointing of the Spirit overflows onto everyone they meet.
The fear of other things
You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows (Psalm 23:5)
Pray against fear, anxiety, and doubt, and pray for boldness, passion, and conviction rooted in the Word of God to strengthen them to obey His calling in their lives. Pray that they see their identity in God alone. Pray for the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, to guard their hearts and minds in Yeshua Messiah (Philippians 4:7).
3. The Feet
Running to win
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us… (Hebrew 12:1)
In this third key point, pray for the spiritual walk of your loved one, that they may run the race with endurance towards the goal, which is the upward call of God in Messiah Yeshua (Philippians 4:14). Pray for guidance and direction. Pray for strength, that even when they stumble and fall, they will get back up again and take the Father’s hand. Pray that God will use them mightily to bring the Good News and carry forth the message of Salvation and Gospel of Peace to everyone in their spheres of influence (Ephesians 6:15).
Running with endurance
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.” (Isaiah 52:7)
Pray against sins or addictions in your loved ones life that would hinder them from walking in holiness. Pray for them to run to the Father each and every day. Pray that they will allow God to write their story and direct their paths, and trust His perfect love for them. Pray for feet that do not grow weary in running the race, but will run with even greater endurance, strength, and passion each and every day. Pray that your loved one answer the call of Yeshua to pick up their cross. Pray they will answer the call and step out in faith when Yeshua says “Follow me”.
4. The Hands
Surrendering it all
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Yeshua, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Colossians 3:17)
In this fourth key point, lift up the hands of your loved one, that everything they put their hand to would by done in the name of Yeshua and give glory to God the Father. Pray they surrender everything to the Father, they He may use them for His glory. Pray for an anointing and gifting of talent and skill to pour through their fingers so that in whatever they do, they may use their talents and skills for God’s Kingdom and purpose.
Humble hands – ready to serve
Then Moses said to the people of Israel, “See, the Lord has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah; and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, with intelligence, with knowledge, and with all craftsmanship (Exodus 35:30-31)
Pray for hands willing to serve and give freely to those in need. Pray for hands that will give healing and comfort to the hurting. Pray for hands fully surrendered and open to the Father, so that He may fill them with blessing. Pray that your loved one will hold fast to the Truth of God’s Word and the Testimony of Yeshua, binding this truth around their arm and hand so that it guides them everything they do (Deuteronomy 6).
Pray they will wield with power and hold securely the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, and the shield of faith, that all darts of the evil one will be brought to nothing and extinguished (Ephesians 6:16-17). Pray for hands that give all the glory to God.
Lift up your hands to the holy place and bless the Lord!
5. The Mouth
A bold, but careful tongue
Then the Lord put out his hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me, “Behold, I have put my words in your mouth. (Jeremiah 1:9)
In this fifth key point, pray for the mouth of your loved one, that their lips would be anointed with the Spirit. Pray that they are filled to the brim with the Holy Spirit in so much that whatever they say and whatever they speak gives evidence of the Spirit that dwells within them.
Pray for lips undefiled by coarse speech or worthless gossip, but set-apart for holiness and truth. As the tongue is likened to a fire of unrighteousness that can set a forest ablaze if not guarded, pray that their tongue will be a fire of holiness, love, and truth that will set the world on fire for God.
Pray for the gifts of the Holy Spirit, that they may speak in new tongues, give words of prophetic power, words of knowledge, and speak the wisdom of God with boldness. Let the hearts of those who hear your loved one speak be drawn to God, because in the words spoken, they hear the heart of God.
Pray for speech that is gracious, seasoned with salt, humble, and anointed with wisdom so they will know how to answer and speak to each person they come into contact with (Colossians 4:6). Let the words of their mouth give life, healing, and restoration.
Words of praise
The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life… (Proverbs 10:11)
Pray for lips that will call upon the name of the Lord in the day of trouble and the day of blessing. Pray that their mouth will praise God’s name in every circumstance and give Him the glory He is due. Pray that their tongue will be loosed from the bonds of the fear of man but will be empowered by the fear of the Lord.
6. The Eyes
But my eyes are toward you, O GOD, my Lord; in you I seek refuge (Psalm 141:8)
In this sixth key point, pray that the eyes of your loved one look always toward God and seek refuge, wisdom, and guidance from Him alone. Pray that the Lord will give them dreams and visions revealing His calling on their lives. Pray that their eyes be filled with the light of His Spirit and Presence (Matthew 6:22-23).
Pray for eyes set-apart for holiness (Psalm 101:3). Pray for eyes opened to a greater understanding and love for the Father’s Torah and precepts.
A “good eye”
Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law. (Psalm 119:18)
Pray for eyes that look on others with love and compassion. Pray that they may see through God’s eyes and see others as He sees them. Pray for eyes that turn away from any kind of temptation or worthless thing. Pray for eyes that desire to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord (Psalm 27:4).
Pray for eyes that do not stay closed in laziness and slumber, but are alert and awake as watchmen on the wall, ready and willing to do the Lord’s work. Pray for eyes that do not compare themselves to others, but rejoice in who they are in Messiah. Pray for eyes that look to Yeshua, the Author and Perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).
7. The Innermost Being
Thirsting and being filled
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. (Matthew 5:6)
In this seventh and final key point, pray that your loved one will hunger and thirst from the very depths of their innermost being for His righteousness. Pray that this drive will permeate every thought, action, and pursuit in their life. Pray that they will not be content to be “sheeple” and follow the crowd, but to seek God’s truth, holiness, and righteousness first and at the source: The Scripture.
Pray they will crave His Word so much they will test every doctrine, thought, and theology to His Word (1 Thessalonians 5:21). Pray this desire will drive them to study to show themselves approved, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly discerning the Word of Truth (2 Timothy 2:15).
Pray they seek fulfilment in His righteousness alone. Pray that they don’t not become anxious about what they will eat, drink, or wear, for as the Father cares for and feeds even the birds of the air, how much more does He care for them? So very much more. Pray that they seek first the Kingdom of God. Pray that they are filled to overflowing with His Holy Spirit so that out of their hearts will flow rivers of living water that will bring life to the nations.
Repenting, and knowing the heart of God
On the last day of the feast, the great day, Yeshua stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’ (John 7:37)
Pray that your loved one will be driven not by fleshly lusts or passions, but by holy and Spirit-filled passion and zeal for God. Pray that they will dedicate their bodies to holiness and purity (1 Corinthians 6:19). No matter what happened in the past, there is healing and restoration in true repentance. How great is the Father’s forgiveness love to those who come to Him!
The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price.
Pray that your loved one answers the call of Yeshua to “Follow Me”, to come and drink from the water of life, where this is hope, healing, love, joy, and true shalom.
Blessings and shalom
Pray for a heart so rooted in the heart of God that it finds its greatest joy in just resting in His presence.
